"The Infestation Hypothesis" is the second episode of the fifth season of ''The Big Bang Theory'' that first aired on CBS on September 22, 2011. It is the 89th episode overall. In it, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) becomes worried when Penny acquires a new chair, while Leonard (Johnny Galecki) tries to make his long distance relationship with Priya work. The episode was watched by nearly 12 million viewers in the U.S. and received mixed reviews. ==Plot== Sheldon and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) are in her apartment; the two of them are reading. Sheldon is sitting in Penny's new chair and compliments it, but then finds out that Penny found it thrown out on the street. Sheldon is paranoid that he got "chair lice", as he has mysophobia, and daydreams himself sitting on the chair and getting covered in bugs. He rushes to Penny's apartment and makes a series of attempts to get her to remove the chair. He talks to Amy (Mayim Bialik) and convinces her to talk to Penny about the chair. Amy casually asks Penny whether she is concerned about its cleanliness and Penny realizes what has happened. Penny is upset and claims Sheldon is "manipulating" Amy; Amy quickly apologizes and sits in the chair. Something in the chair bites her and the girls run from the apartment. Later, Howard (Simon Helberg) and Raj (Kunal Nayyar) discover the chair outside the building and decide to bring it to Sheldon and Leonard's apartment so Raj does not have to sit on the floor. The subplot focuses on Leonard and Priya's long distance relationship as Priya has returned to India. They have a dinner date, communicating through Skype and Howard suggests they engage in cybersex. He finds a pair of mechanical mouths that simulate kissing: when one person puts their lips on one mouth, the other mouth copies the movements. Leonard is reluctant to use the device, especially after Howard and Raj demonstrate using it. Leonard and Priya use Skype again and begin to take their clothes off. However, the screen freezes as Priya is about to remove her shirt.
